Features
Kilpi is a free ad and tracker blocker for iPhone and iPad: Kilpi Shield, an on-device VPN with no server, checks every name your apps look up against protection lists on the device and stops known scam, malware, tracker and ad sites before they load.
Turn it on once and Kilpi becomes your device's DNS resolver. Before an app connects, the name is checked against lists on your device, and known malware, scam, tracking and ad sites never load. It uses iOS's VPN feature, but there is no VPN server and your IP address doesn't change.
Safari, Mail, Messages, games and your other apps, over Wi-Fi and cellular. The shield reconnects by itself after a restart or a network change.
Names that aren't blocked are looked up over encrypted DNS through Cloudflare or Quad9, your choice, so the network you're on can't read or change your lookups.
One shield, plain-language explanations and a daily count of what was stopped. See what was blocked and why, and allow a site for 5, 15 or 30 minutes, or always, if you need it.
Every lookup as it happens with the list that matched, domain rules for every app, your own hosts-format lists, domain checks, resolver tests and diagnostics. Optional deep inspection adds IP, port and server-name rules, live flow inspection and packet capture.
StevenBlack and Peter Lowe's ad and tracker list, plus Phishing.Database when you turn it on, downloaded over HTTPS and checked on your device. URLhaus works with your own free abuse.ch Auth-Key, and AbuseIPDB and AlienVault OTX with your own API key.
An optional Safari extension also hides the empty spaces ads leave behind on web pages, and keeps working when iCloud Private Relay handles Safari's lookups.
Keep the shield's state in view from your Home Screen.
Questions
A free ad and tracker blocker for iPhone and iPad. Kilpi Shield checks the name of every site your apps look up against protection lists on your device and stops known scam, malware, tracker and ad sites before they load. On the App Store it's called “Kilpi: Ad & Tracker Blocker”.
Kilpi Shield uses iOS's VPN feature, but the VPN runs entirely on your device. There is no VPN server, your traffic isn't routed through Stationify, and your IP address doesn't change.
Kilpi has no servers of its own, so nothing about your browsing is sent to Stationify. Blocked names are answered on your device. Other lookups go, encrypted, only to the DNS provider you choose, Cloudflare or Quad9.
Yes. Kilpi Shield works across your apps, including Safari, Mail, Messages and games, over Wi-Fi and cellular. With iCloud Private Relay on, Safari's lookups go through Apple's relay instead, and Kilpi's optional Safari extension does the blocking there. Apps that use their own encrypted DNS also bypass the shield.
Public lists downloaded over HTTPS and checked on your device: StevenBlack and Peter Lowe's ad and tracker list, plus Phishing.Database when you turn it on. URLhaus works with your own free abuse.ch Auth-Key, and AbuseIPDB and AlienVault OTX with your own API key. No list catches everything, so stay careful with links that ask for passwords or payment details.
Yes. Tap it in your block history or in Recent Blocks and allow it for 5, 15 or 30 minutes, or always. When the time is up, Kilpi blocks it again, even if the app is closed.
Yes. Simple and Expert modes are both included, with no account, no ads, no subscription and no in-app purchases.
Because we want to make the world more private and more secure, and protection from scams, malware and trackers shouldn't cost everyday people anything. There's no catch: Kilpi has no ads, no account and no servers of its own, so Stationify never gets any data about you, let alone sells it.
