Get in touch
Drift is made by a small studio in Helsinki, and the support inbox is read by the person who wrote the app. Write to [email protected] and you will normally hear back within two working days.
If a score looks wrong, it helps enormously to include your iOS version, your iPhone and Watch models, which wearable writes your data to Apple Health, the date in question, and the number you expected instead.
Getting started
- Grant Health access, all of it. Drift reads around 45 HealthKit types and writes nothing. Tap Turn All Categories On on Apple's permission sheet — a category you leave off simply drops out of your score.
- Fill in your Longevity Profile. On the Longevity tab — age, biological sex, goals, and your skin type, which drives your daily UV safe-dose ceiling. Age and sex are pulled from Health where they are available.
- Give it a fortnight. Drift compares today against your rolling baseline, not a population average, and that baseline needs about 14 days of history. Days one to three will look sparse; this is expected, not a bug.
- Wear the watch overnight. Sleep stages, overnight HRV and resting heart rate are what the sleep and recovery halves of the score are built on.
- Add the widgets. Long-press the home screen or Lock Screen and add Drift to keep today's score in view, and install the Watch app for Drift, Fitness, Sun and Longevity on your wrist with four complication styles.
Reading the scores
Drift Score
One number for how aligned today is with your own normal rhythm, across Sleep, Activity, Heart, Mobility, Environment and Recovery. It reads as Aligned, Drifting or Off Course. Your Tuesday is compared against your previous Tuesdays, so a routinely quiet weekday is not punished for being quiet.
Longevity Score
Eight biomarkers — VO₂ max, HRV, resting heart rate, sleep, daily steps, exercise minutes, heart-rate recovery and walking speed — scored against age-adjusted norms from published research, weighted by how strongly each predicts lifespan and healthspan.
Fitness Score
A 0–100 grade for how your training is loading you, from five sub-scores: Load (acute versus chronic load), Intensity (your easy/moderate/hard split against the Seiler 3-zone model), Recovery, Variance (training monotony) and Strength. Each one opens to the workouts that drove it, and the tab also carries a VO₂ max card with your 90-day development and your percentile for age and sex.
Bedtime Window
Your sleep score rewards a regular bedtime: fall asleep within about 30 minutes of your usual time and you earn full marks for regularity. The Bedtime Window card shows tonight's window, your last 14 nights as a dot strip, your current spread against that ±30 minutes, and how many points a steadier bedtime is worth to you specifically.
Common questions
How does the 14-night challenge work?
You start it from the Bedtime Window card. The target is frozen when you begin — your usual onset time ±30 minutes, or 15/30 minutes earlier if you want to shift it — and the goal is landing inside it on 10 of 14 nights. You get a progress ring with the goal tick, night-by-night results, and an optional wind-down reminder. Nights where you crossed time zones are exempt. When the run settles you get a before-and-after on your bedtime spread. You can end it early at any point.
My score is empty or partial
Almost always a Health permission or a missing data source. Check iOS Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → Drift and confirm the categories are on. Without a wearable, Drift shows a partial score from activity and step data — that is by design, not a failure. If your history is shorter than the baseline window (Settings → Baseline Window), expect the score to firm up as it fills.
I use an Oura ring / Whoop / Garmin — does Drift work?
Yes, with anything that writes to Apple Health. Drift never talks to a manufacturer's cloud; it reads whatever landed in Health. The richer that data, the more complete your score.
What are the pattern detectors?
27 named signals Drift watches for that no single number shows on its own — Sleep Debt, Overtraining, Recovery Gap, Bedtime Drift, Fitness Plateau, Sedentary Creep, HRV Rebound, Jet Lag and more, four of them positive streaks. Each one explains what it detected and which signals it used.
What is Ask Drift, and does it send my data anywhere?
It is on-device Q&A over your own history, powered by Apple's Foundation Models. Ask why your score changed or what a pattern means. Nothing leaves the phone, and it needs a device that supports Apple Intelligence.
My biological age seems off
It is an estimate from resting heart rate, walking speed, VO₂ max and exercise data — not a clinical measurement. VO₂ max in particular only updates on outdoor cardio days, so a spell of indoor training leaves it stale. Drift is a wellness app and is not a medical device; nothing in it diagnoses, treats or prevents anything.
The Watch complication is stale
Scores are computed on iPhone and pushed to the Watch, so the two need to be in range for an update. Open the iPhone app once and give it a moment. watchOS also budgets complication refreshes, so a lag of an hour or two is normal.
Subscription and billing
Drift is a single auto-renewing subscription with a 14-day free trial — $5.99 per month or $49.99 per year — and the trial gives you everything.
How do I cancel, or get a refund?
Subscriptions are handled by Apple, not by us. Cancel under iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions, at least 24 hours before the period ends. Refunds go through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com — we have no ability to issue them.
I paid but Drift is still locked
Open the paywall and tap Restore purchases, and check you are signed in with the same Apple Account that bought it. If it still won't unlock, email us the date of purchase.
Your data
Drift keeps everything on your device. There is no account to recover and no password to reset — and equally, we cannot look up your history for you, because we never receive a copy. Your health data stays in Apple Health and in Drift's own on-device store; deleting the app removes Drift's copy and leaves Health untouched. The privacy policy sets out exactly what is and is not handled.
Reporting a problem
Bug reports are genuinely welcome and are usually acted on. Include the steps that led to the problem if you can reproduce it. If the app crashed, opting in to share diagnostics with developers in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements sends Apple an anonymised crash report we can read.
