Get in touch
Kiito is made by a small studio in Helsinki, and the support inbox is read by the person who wrote the app. Write to [email protected] and you will normally hear back within two working days.
If something looks wrong, it helps enormously to include your iOS and watchOS versions, your iPhone and Watch models, the activity type, and what you expected to happen instead.
Getting started
- Allow the permissions Kiito actually needs. Location Always (so a route keeps recording with the screen off), Motion & Fitness, and Apple Health. Kiito works without Health, but readiness, zones and Fitness Score need it.
- Record your first activity. Go tab → pick a sport → Start. Outdoor sports wait for a GPS fix and count you down before the clock starts. Auto-pause handles junctions and coffee stops on its own.
- Set your zones. Settings → Athlete Profile. Enter your max heart rate, then either auto-detect your thresholds from your rides or enter them from a lab test. Kiito builds personalised HR zones from those, plus FTP-based power zones for cycling, and everything downstream — zone cues, pace bands, Cardio Impact — anchors to them.
- Start a plan. Plan tab → Browse plans → pick a sport and a level. On the start sheet you choose your training days and, for a race plan, your goal race and finish time.
- Pair your Watch. Install Kiito on the Watch from the iPhone Watch app. Workouts started on either device sync to the other.
Guided workouts
When you start a workout from your plan, Kiito counts you through it: warm-up, each interval, each recovery, cool-down. The banner shows the current segment, its heart-rate, pace or power target, time or distance remaining, and what is coming next. You get a 3-2-1 countdown into every block, a voice cue announcing it, and a nudge if you sit outside the target for more than about ten seconds.
My workout has no segments — it just runs free
Fully structured segments are authored for the Couch-to-5K, 5K interval and 10K interval running plans. Every other planned workout gets a guided version built from its prescribed intensity and duration, which is coarser but still coached. If a plan workout has been adapted so far from its original length that the structure no longer fits, Kiito deliberately falls back to a simple effort target rather than lying about the intervals.
The pace targets look wrong for me
Pace bands are derived from your threshold pace, or from your goal race time if you set one. With neither, Kiito estimates from your recent runs and will drop back to heart-rate targets instead — which it also does on a treadmill, where GPS pace is meaningless. Run a threshold test, or set a goal time on your plan, and the bands re-anchor to you.
Can I skip a segment mid-workout?
Yes — the ⋯ menu during an activity has Training → Skip segment. The rest of the session carries on from the next block.
Can I run a guided workout from the Watch alone?
Yes. Your phone resolves the targets and sends them to the Watch, so a guided session started on the wrist shows the same segment card, target and progress, with a haptic at every boundary and a vertical Up Next page. Bring the phone within range once before you leave so the workout is on the Watch, then leave it at home.
Where do quick workouts live?
On the Go tab, in the menu next to the sport picker: 4×4 VO₂max intervals, 5K, 10K, half-marathon and marathon pace sessions, and a recovery run. They need no plan. Pace sessions anchor to a goal time you enter, or to your predicted ability if you leave it blank. Quick workouts are a Kiito Pro feature.
I can't hear the voice cues
Settings → Voice Coach — check the cue types and volume there. Cues are spoken through your current audio route, so they mix with music but will be silent if your phone is on silent with a route that respects it. Kiito uses the best-quality voice installed on your device; if it sounds robotic, download an enhanced voice under iOS Settings → Accessibility → Spoken Content → Voices.
Training plans
How do I change which days I train?
On the plan start sheet, or later from the schedule row on your plan week. Kiito remaps the week around the days you pick and, when the week has to compress, keeps your race, your key sessions and your long run — rest cards are what gets dropped.
What does the adaptive plan actually change?
It reviews your recent load, readiness and heart-rate trends on-device and proposes week-by-week adjustments — a shorter tempo block when you need recovery, a longer endurance push when you are trending up. Every suggestion is yours to accept or reject. Inside the last 14 days before a goal race it will not increase duration or intensity at all, so your taper is protected.
I missed a workout — do I have to redo it?
No. Use Skip on the workout to move past it without breaking the week. Planned-versus-actual minutes stay side by side so you can see the real picture.
What is the debrief after a guided session?
Kiito compares what was prescribed against what you actually did, rep by rep, and writes a short summary: which intervals you hit, which drifted, and what that means for the rest of the week. It runs on-device.
Tracking, routes and gear
My route has gaps or my distance looks short
Set Location to Always and turn off Low Power Mode for long activities — both cause iOS to throttle GPS updates. Under dense tree cover or between tall buildings, expect some smoothing. Indoor sports use motion rather than GPS by design.
An activity appears twice
That happens when two apps write the same workout to Apple Health — your Watch and a third-party app, for example. Recent versions of Kiito detect and merge those, so the duplicate should disappear. If one persists, send us the date and time and both source apps.
Can I follow a route I already have?
Yes — import GPX, KML, GeoJSON or FIT files and follow them live with visual turn guidance and automatic rerouting when you leave the line. You can also search for any destination and navigate to it.
Is my home visible on the heatmap?
No. Kiito blurs the area around your frequent start point automatically. The heatmap only ever exists on your device.
How do I track bikes and running shoes?
Settings → My Bikes and My Shoes. Add as many as you like, give each a starting distance if it is not new, and set a replace-at target. Runs, walks and hikes auto-assign to your default pair; you can reassign from any activity's detail view.
Kiito Pro
Recording every sport, route tracking, the heatmap, gear and the Apple Watch companion are free forever. Kiito Pro adds training plans, guided and quick workouts, adaptive AI coaching, advanced analytics and personalised zones — $5.99 per month or $44.99 per year, with a 7-day free trial.
How do I cancel, or get a refund?
Subscriptions are handled by Apple, not by us. Cancel under iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions, at least 24 hours before the period ends. Refunds go through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com — we have no ability to issue them.
I paid but Pro isn't unlocked
Open the paywall and tap Restore purchases, and check you are signed in with the same Apple Account that bought it. If it still won't unlock, email us the date of purchase and we will work out what happened.
Your data
Kiito keeps everything on your device. There is no account to recover and no password to reset — and equally, we cannot retrieve your activities for you, because we never receive a copy. Deleting the app deletes its data, so export anything you want to keep first. The privacy policy sets out exactly what is and is not handled.
Reporting a problem
Bug reports are genuinely welcome and are usually acted on. Include the steps that led to the problem if you can reproduce it. If the app crashed, opting in to share diagnostics with developers in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements sends Apple an anonymised crash report we can read.
